Hi, everyone! This is Alia Bhatt, and this is my 10-minute beauty routine.

Building the Base

My go-to for skin is to avoid foundation. I use it for when I’m shooting movies, ads, or other projects, but for myself, I prefer skin tints. I’m a bit of a mixologist and like to create a nice concoction of products and see how they work together. I didn’t mention my routine’s name — I’m calling it my sunburned glow. It’s inspired by that feeling you get after being in the sun all day — tired, but with a natural glow, flushed, and looking like a child of the earth. I’m trying to recreate that look.

I’m using Summer Friday’s skin tint, which I love. It’s a sheer skin tint that works beautifully on my skin. I’m going to mix it with this KIKO primer. I love primers, especially this one because it’s a highlighter, primer, and cream all in one, making it super hydrating. I mix these two together and apply them using my hands. I’m not very comfortable using a blush when applying my skin tint because I feel I get better coverage with my hands. For me, it’s not really about the coverage; I want my skin to look like skin. I also love showing
off my freckles.

Concealing Imperfections

Next up is my favorite concealer, Kosas. I love creamy concealers, but for me, concealers are just for coverage — under the eyes and for covering little spots. Earlier, I never felt the need to cover my under eyes, but now, since I’ve hit 30, or maybe because of lack of sleep (new mom life!), I feel the need to do so. I cover all these spots, going over them again and again.

Adding a Sunburned Glow

Now for the sunburned glow. My current favorite is Glossier’s cheek color in Beam. I’m going for a peachy vibe because I want to get that little sun-kissed glow. I apply it in a C-curve on my cheeks, but the trick is not to stop at the cheek — I go over my nose, making a W shape. I also apply a bit on my chin and above my lips. Then, I move on to contouring.

Contouring and Setting

To achieve a tanned look, I go harder on my contour using Milk’s contour stick, which I absolutely love. When working on a movie, 50% of getting into character is about the look — the costume, hair, and makeup. I collaborate with the creative team to achieve the vision of the character. After contouring, I move on to powder. I’m going for a sunburned skin vibe, so I don’t powder too much — just under my eyes to set everything. I use Hourglass powder, which is sheer, super translucent, and illuminating.

Enhancing the Eyes

For eyeshadow, I was gifted the Too Faced Pinker Times Ahead palette. It’s very pink, so I’m mixing a peachy tone with a deeper, dustier pink for a subtle, sunburned effect. I apply the lighter shades on my eyelids and use a lighter white shade for the inner corners to blend everything nicely. I learned how to apply makeup from my makeup artist Punit, who has been with me for about eight years. She did my Met Gala look and my wedding makeup, and she’s like family to me.

Next, I move on to mascara. I love mascara because it completely changes my face, so I’m always in search of the perfect one. Today, I’m using two mascaras. First, I curl my lashes, a technique I learned from Punit. I’m currently loving Gucci mascara because it’s super light and gives a nice lift without looking too heavy. For my lower lashes, I use Tower 28 mascara, which is perfect for sensitive eyes. Lately, my eyes have become very sensitive to certain makeup products, so I’m careful about what I use.

Brows and Final Touches

For my brows, I’m going super chill. I’m using Benefit’s brow products, and I let my brows grow out now without shaping them too much. I usually go for the powder and wax combination, but today, I’m only using powder. During the lockdown, I became self-reliant when it came to removing hair from my face and body, spending hours waxing myself while watching “Too Hot To Handle.”

Next, I apply blush again using Hourglass, going for a dusty pink and bronzer mix to enhance that sunburned glow. I also add more contour using Hourglass contour powder for that burntish feel.

Highlight and Lips

For highlighter, I’m using Milk highlighter, which gives a subtle glow. For an extra impact, I also use Rare Beauty highlighter, dabbing it down to blend everything together. For my lips, I’m using Revlon creamy matte lipstick with a peachy tone. I like to dab it off so it looks like a stain. I finish off with Rhode lip balm, which is always in my bag. I tend to eat my lip balm when it’s flavored, so I use the unscented one to avoid that.

And that’s it! This is my sunburned glow 10-minute beauty routine for a night out. Thanks for tuning in, and I hope you enjoyed it! See you next time!
